It is an evergreen shrub. It reaches a height of 3–6 meters, with a bushy appearance and smooth, grayish-brown bark. The leaves are large, pinnate, and glossy green, with serrated leaflets. Its flowers are small, greenish-yellow to reddish, and arranged in terminal or axillary cymes. The fruit is a small, spherical drupe, turning purplish-black when ripe.
June - October
It is commonly employed to treat wounds, fever, diarrhea, and digestive disorders.
